“We hired a Starline coach to transport my parents and 21 of their friends and family on a bus tour of their life in Ballard, Crown Hill, Phinney Ridge and the UW as we celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The trip became more complicated and frustrating as it was announced 520 bridge would be closed – which was our preferred route to our destinations from Bellevue. In addition, by chance, our next door neighbors were hosting a memorial service for a family member at the exact time we were meeting for our bus tour which made maneuvering and parking especially challenging. Particularly for a bus. Into this chaos drove your driver, who deftly guided the bus into our driveway. Out pops a starched, pressed, perfectly-appointed gracious driver – who with a quick, engaging smile, introduces herself. She was as delightful a person as I could imagine from the moment she stepped off the bus. She warmly greeted the guests, took the time to understand the nature of our event, and congratulated my parents on their milestone. She was completely unruffled by our necessary long detour, and headed north on 405. We had her turning that bus on a dime through narrow, residental streets. Throughout the tour, she was engaged in what we were experiencing, and completely accommodating to our many spur-of-the-moment requests to stop, pullover, and park. Her good natured demeanor was amazing. We all quickly felt she was part of our trip, and we were happy to have her along. We had to have directed her through some of the nastiest possible driving. Neighborhoods in Phinney Ridge, Ballard and the U-District are not friendly to large vehicles of any size. You wouldn’t have known it with her as the driver. At the end of our tour, she genuinely seemed to have enjoyed her time with us, and complimented us on our efforts to re-create my parent’s history.
